Top Chef Masters - Week 8 Results

Congratulations to Chef Michael Chiarello and his win for his charity The Clinic Ole Foundation

Ah Chef Art Smith ... store bought ice cream did you in. It was a joy to watch you cook. Best to your charity Common Threads.

Now for the question of the day. Would you pay $5,000 for one of Chef Keller's hamburgers?

So what is in a $5,000 hamburger:

Nope! :-)

I'm still reeling from seeing Dale and wondering how he is going to get the knife out of his forehead.

Art Smith is never a joy to watch! He seems all smiles & giggles when it's going his way but heaven forbid a client DOESN'T want one of his 1000+ calorie bombs. The snide comments abt "I smell a rat!" w/ Zooey for daring to be a vegetarian & gluten-intolerant ("Take all the things you love and just say "NO!") were even worse than listening to him boast reg of the famous ppl he's served. Dude, maybe if you laid off the buttery greaseballs Oprah wouldn't swell up ea. year before yoyo-ing onto some equally unhealthy mega crash diet.
Penalized for making a decision the judges didn't like? Hardly. He barely "cooked" anything and what he did prep wasn't that tasty or original of a desert. Zooey & co said they've been served vegan ice cream in the past & Art's didn't hold up well comparatively. ~Rocketshippy

I think this challenge showed Art's weakness, creativity.

I wouldn't pay $5000. for one of Chef Keller's burgers, but for moral reasons rather than anything else. I can think of too many other good uses for the money. But I sure would love to eat one! Guess that will never happen.

FYI - It was Michael Chiarello that made the "Take all the things you love and just say 'NO' comment, not Art Smith.

Way to miss the point, it doesn't make Art less of a fat blowhard. He still has no concept of nutrition, little respect for dietary restrictions/ contest rules that don't cater to his favorite things, and his claims of being Mr. Southern Comfort miss the mark. The only Southern state Art ever lived in is Florida, which is so infused w/ nouveau riche pop that it's not even in the Top 5 places I'd think of when I heard "southern" applied to US cooking. The Carolinas, Tennessee, Kentucky, Virginia, even the gulf states of Georgia, Alabama, & Louisiana seem more indictative of the "down-home taste" he's advertisting.

PS I'm not a fan of Michael either for all the potshots he takes at Hubert (ze phony french azzent Michael uses whenevair Ooberz name eez menshuned). I'll be happy when BOTH boys are gone.
