Top Chef Episode 8 results

Congratulations to Chef Stefan for the QF win.

and to team "Chicken" for the elimination win. Chef Carla, Jamie and Stefan

We believe this is the first time a team has won together.

Sorry Chef Ariane. You gave it a heck of a try.
Who else thought her team threw her under the farm tractor?

Well, they had to keep the two lovebirds together. Good TV, you know? I will miss you Ariane! Tough break, kiddo. I really thought you would at least reach the finale.

Ariane went home??? Wow. Sad. Way too early.

It's 100% obvious this was a stunt to keep the TV going. Did you see the preview for next week's episode? It's was full of shit about the "love birds". I honestly am not sure I can watch this show anymore lol

Ariane legitimately got voted off because she messed up the lamb, however, her team totally shouldn't have given her something she didn't know to do and they did not stand up for her. Totally threw her under the bus. Not cool

I was totally offended by Radhika comment tonight! That the canned foods are what a housewife would use and as a chef she is used to using the fresh ingredients. I AM a housewife & I pride myself on my ability to cook even in a time crunch I USE FRESH ingredients. It would pain me to use something out of a can or box. It was insulting to categorize "housewives" that way... like we have such low standards. Next time say "bachelors" or "college frat boys"

I, too, am sick of the "lovebird" crap. Neither Hosea or Leah are the least bit interesting to me and if the next episode is full of the two of them just because they're horny, I'm going to skip it. Please let one of them go home next! I want to watch Top Chef not Chef of Love. Send them both to VH1.

As for Ariane, I liked her but wasn't suprised to see her go.

Arriane we will miss you. . . but you did Bahhhhd at cooking the lamb. :) You got RAMed by EWEr teammates, don't they feel SHEEPish. Ha ha ha. . . in all seriousness, that was really crappy of them. . and honestly I'm not interested in seeing the love birds make their nest.

HOWEVER, I think the Top Chef producers should have made the contestants kull their own proteins. . . that would have made for some good tv. Not that I wanna watch babe die, but that way we'd really see who wants the title of top chef!

@danielle - my jaw dropped at Radhika's comment too! I thought it was really insulting and not even close to true. I wouldn't say to use "bachelors" or "frat boys" either though - I know plenty of them that are great cooks and use quality ingredients.

Leah and Hosea definitely threw Ariane under the bus - she should have been there a lot longer.

Curious to find out the status of the lovebirds' relationships at home after the show!

Keep on saying "we're just friends" there Hosea. You may be sellin' it, but I'm not buyin' it!

Totally unfair! She wasn't the best but she wasn't the worst by far. Leah made a salad, for god's sake. Total BS.

She was weak. She shouldn't have won the first time she made lamb. She roundly deserved to be sent home. And she was a snipey poor loser, to boot.

Leah and Hosea totally threw the Cougar under the farm tractor...I know it's January for us but it's JULY on the show. Ariane should have insisted on grilling the lamb.

Who did the sheep team's dessert? It looked like a disaster...

Leah and Hosea clearly compromised the dish by a) letting Ariane butcher it even though she specifically told them she's not familiar with butchering/tying; b) letting her take the fall for Leah's shit tying skills - even if the lamb was badly butchered, she should have/could have worked it so that the result was not some malformed hunk; c) omitting the fact, at Judges Table, that both of them knew better.

Honestly, Hosea or Leah should've been shipped home because of their negligence. At least Ariane was upfront about her shortcomings, which would've put her in the bottom two, yes, but when more-experienced chefs let her shortcomings compromise something that was so easy to simply roast? Come on. I know it's the top chef of the top chefs, but integrity is of question.

Also: NO SCALLOPS?!

Ariane was sooooo thrown under the bus, Leah shame on both Hosea and Leah. They both deserve each other.

I'm no Ariane fan, I feel she should have been gone weeks ago, but she wasn't the one who should have gone home last night.

Anyone else notice they didn't even mention Leah's awful dessert at the Judges table? Did they forget about it or was it just cut out?

I'm really tired of Leah's "whatever" attitude. Ever since she slacked off when she had immunity, I've questioned her integrity. This just sealed it for me. And the childish whispering to each other in the stew room. And I was taken aback by Radhika's comment. Jeff has the same attitude (he's made numerous comments like "unsophisticated palates, soccer moms, etc."). I guess it takes a cocky attitude (Stephan!) to be a great chef, but get over yourselves. None of you are there yet.

More of hosea and Leah Making out next week - Blauuck!

Another quick peek of Jeff without a shirt on - Yesssssss!

It is about time that Ariane was sent packing. She had the least culinary skills of anyone there, her two elimination wins and one quickfire win notwithstanding. How can a chef (much less a prospective "Top Chef") not know how to butcher a leg of lamb or even tie it?? Here's a thought...if you don't know how to use a single piece of twine to continuously tie the meat, how about a number of interrupted ties (speaking as a surgeon)? It is NOT hard. She has no creativity and skated by simply cooking proteins (roast the turkey, sear and roast the lamb, saute the skate, etc). When she was deemed the winner of the wedding shower with the Indian-spiced lamb, her only contribution was searing and cooking the protein which even she admitted was simple. The flavor profiles and the concept of the dish came from Jamie and Radhika. The dish Martha chose as the winner was supposed to be a one pot meal...her "winner" used a grill! It was a grilled steak over a cauliflower puree. And I don't see how a salad of tomatoes and watermelon requires any creativity. Yeah, it's about time she got booted.

Totally agree with Anon (1.11 PM) about Ariane. Despite her various wins she never impressed me as a CHEF. If she had made the final she would have bored the judges (and the viewers) with a well-made but completely unadventurous dinner. Having said that, I would have happily seen either Leah or Radhka go home last night. They both sucked during the QF and they both coasted through the EC.

I watched the episode on my DVR about two hours after it aired, as tired as my wife and I were, we were doing back flips when Ariane the hack was eliminated. TC needs to invoke a new rule: "If you hit the bottom three times in a row, you're done!" She was on the bottom the first three episodes, if it wasn't for the fact the judges liked the her turkey she should have been eliminated just for being there.

I was no Ariane fan,but I do feel she shouldn't have been the one to go home,Leah or Hosea should of,and they were no help at all. And next week who cares if they are sleeping with each other, they deserve each other, but not us having to watch it.

Totally thrown under the bus. Poor Ariane. Those two said in the beginning they would let Ariane do the lamb since she won a challenge making it. It was their decision to leave her to do the lamb on her own.

I wonder how the partners of Hosea and Leah feel seeing them all over each other? Yuck. No self respect.

Is it to early for final 4 predictions with only 8 left?

Mine - Jeff, Stefan, Jamie and Hosea.

So Fabio, Radika, Leah and the gal who should win Ms Congentiality, Carla all go home.

Yours?

I think this season sucks. I thought last season was bad but this one is by far worse. The cheftestants at best are average. If this is what is to pass as Top Chef I hope this is the last season for this show. As a native New Yorker, I'm embarrassed that these are the chefs being showcased in my city. It's a shame I used to really love this show. Pathectic, sad & pathectic, I mean talk about scraping bottom of the barrel. Andy Cohen I hope you're reading this.

Yeah I totally thought it was bulls**t that Ariane went home. I really expected her to go the finals too. It was totally producer driven decision to make for better TV. It's too bad. I think Leah is toast next week!

Jamie used to really bug me, but at least she has passion for food. Leah and her waffles (I could make that!) is the one that now drives me crazy. I think Ariane deserved to go home having never mentioned she really couldn't butcher or tie lamb during the group menu discussion, but I really hope Leah is next on the block. I also love Carla--I hope she can just cook tarts until the end to be in the finale. She'll never win, but I like her so much I don't want to see her go.

My final 4 picks--Stephan, Jaime, Jeff and I'm just really hoping Carla can just squeek in...think Hosea has a better chance though

I'd bet both Hosea and Leah are single again by now having been dumped by their respective significant others...Can't believe Hosea said he couldn't let anything come of his flirting with Leah--he should have said it was just for fun and he just wasn't that interested...MEN!

wow, just watched the show. those black marks on ariane are the bus tire tracks from Hosea and lazy Leah. What's sad is that the judges knew it, but voted her off anyway.

Hope Leah is next to go....

So not fair that Leah and Hosea stayed on board. Leah with her unappealing tomato salad and Hosea's roasted potatoes. C'mon, not much creativity there and how much time did they put into making it, in between messing around with each other? I like Radhika, but she also took 3 hrs to shuck and grill corn?? Ariana should have stayed on board. I really thought she had a shot at making the last top four. My bet is that Leah is goin down next episode. She needs to GO back to her BOYFRIEND if she even has one still.

Isn't it against the rules to hook up in the house? Can't Hosea and Leah get sent home for doing so?
