Harold Stopped By Our Kitchen

We were working away, here in the kitchen… ok we were goofing off throwing flour at each other… anyway… we had a great surprise… Harold stopped in to visit with us.

Hi, Harold! Thanks so much for speaking with Blogging Top Chef!

Us: After Katie announced that you had won and were the Season 1 Top Chef, what were you feeling in those first moments?

Harold: I was excited… relieved it was finally over. Just knowing that I accomplished my goal was awesome.

Us: Outside of your winning moment, what was your favorite part of being on Top Chef?

Harold: The new life long friends…met some amazing people.

Us: Had you heard Katie being called a robot, lifeless? What was she like in person?

Harold: Katie is the furthest thing from lifeless. She’s an incredibly hard worker. I’ve spent some time with her outside the show and she is really Funny, Sassy and really darn sexy.

US: Are you comfortable with such a huge fan base?

Harold: I’m fine with it… every once in a while you meet someone that is totally out of control, but for the most part the support everyone has given me has really been inspirational.

Us: Do you have any message for all your fans?

Harold: Message for my fans… hmm “stop picking on me about my flip flops.”

Us: We saw that you were the “surprise guest judge” on the first episode of Top Chef Season 2. What was it like to be a judge, having been a contestant?

Harold: Didn’t really care for being a judge… Being a contestant is so draining on a lot of different levels.. Didn’t really feel comfortable bringing out other peoples shortcomings in the competition.

Us: Tell us about your planned restaurant, Perilla. What is your vision for it?

Harold: Ah Perilla…we’re still trying to secure a location and raise a bit more capital. We’re really not trying to reinvent the wheel. The feel will be casual fine dining. The food is seasonal new American with some global accents. Keep checking in at Perillanyc.com for details.

Us: Thanks, Harold!
Harold: My pleasure.

What a thrill to have Harold stop by the kitchen.

Harold’s link to his Perilla website
and this link is also located on the right side of our kitchen under Season 1 Chefs.

Harold also has a blog over on Bravo.com. Be sure to read his blog each week. In addition to leaving comments for Harold here, you may write comments on his Bravo blog.

We have an open invitation to Harold to visit our kitchen anytime he wishes. We hope he will stop by again during the season.

I'm sorry, but I can't lay off his flip-flops. They were SO inappropriate for a professional kitchen. I just died laughing when I read his comment.

I still love ya Harold - flip-flops and all.

Harold's discomfort at judging the new chefs was obvious, if endearing. He's a cook, not a judge!

Will we see more of him this season?
